The Dynamic Duo: Recovery & Amino Acids

  • 2 min read

Recovery from training is important for many reasons, not only does it help you progress, it helps the body feel rejuvenated with the ability to undergo the same intensity of training the next day. While recovering is imperative for professional athletes and those who put their bodies through high-level training every day, it is just as important for anyone that is spending time in the gym. Recovering properly is essential for personal growth and to see results.

While it’s fairly common knowledge that protein is a must when it comes to recovering post-workout - many fitness enthusiasts don’t know that Amino Acids are just as important. The protein promotes an increase in muscle strength and size, helps to reduce muscle breakdown, speeds up post-workout recovery, and supports fat loss when combined with resistance training.

Most generic Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA) supplements only contain the usual three BCAAs, as they are the cheapest to source. Ryno Power’s Recovery contains Essential Amino Acids (EAAs), Alpha Ketoglutarates (AKGs) and Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs). Essential Amino Acids are found in food and are not naturally made by the body.  AKGs are used by cells during growth and to heal muscle tissue and BCAAs are known for their anabolic functions. Anabolism is defined as the synthesis of complex molecules in living organisms to form simpler ones together with the storage of energy. Branched-chain amino acids (which are the amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine) stimulate muscle protein synthesis potentially even more than a normal protein on its own. Protein synthesis is the metabolic process when your body makes new muscle, also known as gains. That means, on a cellular level, your body has an increased capacity to repair itself.

Amino Acids are used to build and repair muscle tissue, diminish soreness after intense training, and reduce the perception of fatigue during the workout with an increased ability to push harder longer.  While primarily promoted and used post-workout, taking Amino Acids before a workout will boost energy levels, allow you to train harder, longer and with more intensity. We recommend 3-6 Recovery capsules before the workout and 6 capsules immediately after the workout.

Aminos are rapidly absorbed and released into the bloodstream which allows for a significant reduction in muscle catabolism, decreased muscle soreness, and an increase in recovery. Catabolism is defined as the breakdown of larger molecules into smaller ones. In the fitness niche, it is the breakdown of muscle tissues to feed the body's immediate needs. After a tough workout in the gym, if your muscles start to catabolize and you aren’t taking supplements to prevent it, your body will essentially be taking “two steps back” rather than progressing forward. Add some post-workout Protein with Amino Acids and you’ll have a winning combination for a maximized increase in muscle strength, ability and size.
